Betty Marie Chapman
May 10, 1923-April 10, 2024
Our mother, Betty M. Chapman, age 100 and 11 months, of Monroe, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024.
Mom was born on May 10th, 1923 in Monroe, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Bernette (Cousino) Peltier. Mom graduated from St. Mary’s Academy with the class of 1941. In 1945, Mom married her sweetheart, Arthur Chapman and together they raised four children. Sadley, dad died after 67 years of marriage.
Our mom worked during WWII, as a Rosie the Riveter at Woodalls, building airplane parts. When her children were born, however, mom chose to stay home and devote her time to our family. Mom was a longtime member and faithful servant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Our mom was a wonderful mother, wife, and friend. She was always our best cheerleader. Mom was a great listener, generous to a fault, patient, kind, loving, and fun. She loved sharing childhood stories. Our family was always her greatest priority. Mom set goals for herself and did what she needed to do to achieve them.
In her spare time, mom loved to travel. You would always find her and dad together whether they were going to the cabin in Mio, traveling all over Michigan, going out west or simply playing cards with two of her favorite people, Marlene and Carl. Mom also liked to crochet, needlepoint, and make Afghans. She was also known to be a pretty good sandwich maker and cook. We will miss you mom. We love you more.
Beloved mother of James (Sue) Chapman, Glena (Jerome) Tabbert, Bettyann (Barry) Egen, and Jacalyn (Roy) Adkins; grandmother of 10, great grandmother of 29 and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Mom was preceded in death by our father Arthur, her parents, a sister Gertrude Bazick, and a brother, Carl Peltier.
