Larry Donald Poore

Larry Donald Poore, age 76, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024 at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mi.

Born August 12, 1947 in Monroe, Mi, he was one of seven children born from the union of the late Lipford and Lula Mae (Epperson) Poore. Larry attended and graduated from Airport High School and went on to further his education, achieving an Associate’s Degree in Business. He also served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War.

Larry met and married the love of his life, Linda Soule, on July 27, 1979. He started in quality control at Ford Motor Company for 35 years then later retired from Martinrea as a Director of Quality Control. Larry attended Compelled Church as his love for the Lord and Savior was a top priority in his life.

A true patriarch and provider for his family, Larry shared his wisdom and generosity to those around him. To be loved by Larry was an honor. He was the kind of man to mow his neighbor’s lawn or snow blow driveways, all without prompt. He was always attentive to his family’s needs and his love for his children and grandchildren could never be measured.

In his spare time, Larry might be found cooking a southern meal for his family, studying his Bible, or wood carving in his workshop. He was an avid reader, reading hundreds of books over the years. He also loved to spend time with his dog, Tucker.

Larry is survived by his wife, Linda, and their two daughters, Sarah (Tad) Begley and Alyssa (Justin) Corser. Proud grandfather, known as “Papa” of Juniper and Edison Begley. Father to Larry (Tammy) Poore and Leann (Mark) Britton. Dear brother of Peggy (Roland) Barton, Charlotte Alkire, and Kimberly Kasalukas.

Larry is preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Jackie Poore, and a sister, Patricia Uzynski.

Family and friends may visit Rupp Funeral Home on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 2pm until 7pm. A funeral service in Larry’s honor will take place at Rupp on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 11am with Pastor Nate Elarton officiating.
