William “Mr. Bill” McDaniel

William “Mr. Bill” McDaniel, age 88, of Bloomfield, Indiana, formerly of Monroe, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 2:41 a.m.
Born September 6, 1935, in Lone Mountain, Tennessee, he is the son of the late Dan and Hazel (Leedy) McDaniel. Bill served his county honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1954 until 1956. After returning home, he married Annette Haynes in Monroe on November 30, 1957. Sadly, she preceded him in death on October 10, 2011. Bill worked as a general foreman at Container Corporation of America in Illinois, retiring in 1994.
He was a life-member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a longtime member of AMVETS. He enjoyed mowing his grass and taking care of his yard. Most recently, watching the grass green up in anticipation of the upcoming season.
To cherish his memory, Bill leaves two children, William “Boyd” McDaniel of Bloomfield, Indiana, and Denise (Paul) Jankauskis of Cedar Lake, Indiana; one sister, Francis (Roger) Collino of Monroe; two grandchildren, Matthew (Karli) Jankauskis of Indiana and Daniel Fuller of California; three greatgrandchildren: Kayla, Kenzy, and Karrissa; and one great-greatgrandchild, Oliver.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jennifer Jankauskis; five brothers; and one sister.
Friends and family may visit Monday, April 1, 2024, from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Rupp Funeral Home, 2345 S. Custer Road, Monroe, MI 48161, where services celebrating his life will begin at 5 p.m. Rev. BJ McDaniel, pastor of One Way Christian Fellowship, will officiate. Military honors, under the auspices of the V.F.W. Post 1138 – Monroe, will commence at 6 p.m. Interment will be held privately at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill’s memory are suggested to Paula’s House.
